DIY Gel Manicure

I love nail polish, the hundreds of bottles can attest to my love of the expression of beauty, and having hundreds of bottles of nail polish can be pretty challenging when it comes to keeping it on for more than a few days. So... drum roll please, I decided to force myself to keep nail polish on for a week...7 whole days, and I decided to do it with diy gel nail polish.

The products I've used are below

"Gelous"

The incredible gel polish

"Sleeping Under The Stars"
The beautiful navy polish with red shimmer.

"Seche Vite"
Glossy, fast drying miracle top coat.

The application was simple
  • Gel
  • wait 2-3 mins
  • Polish
  • wait 2-3 mins
  • Gel
  • wait 2-3 mins
  • Polish
  • wait 2-3 mins
  • Top Coat
  • wait 2-3 mins
  • Gel
  • wait 2-3 mins
  • (Top Coat optional.)

My experience

After you put the last gel application you have to wait a while.. I mean a while... Almost 1 hour for all the layers of polish to dry completely.

The morning after

My nails didn't look good.. I won't say they looked bad, but the shine was gone, and they were a little smudged and had some pretty bad sheet prints all over them.
I applied another layer of topcoat on my nails and it smoothed out the mess, I waited for that to dry and my nails looked great.

   Day 1                                                                          Day !

Day 3

                                                     Day 5
On day 5 there are no chips, no lifting and the nails aren't as shiny, but they still look good and with some top coat, they can look great again. My nails feel strong, hard and wonderful. I'm itching for a new color, but I'm going to wait the full 7 days before I change polish colors.

These are all 3 of the products mentioned.

All were bought at Sallys Beauty Supply

China glaze "sleeping under the stars)was $6.49
Gelous was $5.00
Seche Vite was $8.00

ULTA HAUL!!!

I went to Ulta last week and got a few nail polishes :)
Ulta was running a sale that all Ulta brand nail polishes were $2 for $4. :)

What I'm wearing on my nails right now is "Flirt"
"Flirt" is black cherry color with purple shimmer throughout.
  "Flirt"

" Flirt "

 "Flirt"

 "Flirt"

"Polka.com"
Is made up of blue, pink and purple medium glitters and small purple

This is "whatever floats your moat" is a vibrant, and I mean vibrant cobalt blue jelly.
This is the most beautiful blue that I have ever seen.
The smell is beyond terrible. and the bad thing about this nail polish, is that its a sheer jelly :(.
I'm just not a fan of the jelly look, so to make this look good I had to put a thin coat of an opaque blue underneath it to get his color. :(

"Jet Lag" is a gorgeous medium to light muted true blue.  Its opaque in 2 coats and its a beautiful color that isn't unique, but its still a staple blue.

"Holiday in Turks and Caicos" is a blue/green pealesant

Nails of the moment :)

I went over to my husbands parents house last night, for dinner and I hate hate hate not having nail polish on my nails. My mother in law was painting her nails this beautiful color, I loved it so I tried it.
The consistency is a little thick, but its beautiful.

Relvon "290 Optimistic"

"Optimistic" is a medium hot pink creme.
the formula is a little thick, but it was my mother in laws and I'm not sure how long she had it.

 Florescent lighting.

Outdoor lighting.

I have tutu cute on my toes :)

Ulta Haul May 2014

Ulta professional in "Island Hopper"
It retail for $7.50 at ulta

 Ulta "Island Hopper"
is a turquoise bordering on green.
it looks very blue in the pictures, but in normal light its alot more green.
I got this little beauty for $3.00 at Ulta.

I picked up these polishes today at Bed Bath & Beyond and Ulta.
This brilliant neon blue is called "I'm addicted"
Its a bright aquamarine blue.
I have a lot of blue nail polish, but this is something completely different than any I've ever seen.
This is 3 coats of it.
Its opaque-ish in 2 coats, but 3 makes it perfect.

 "Tutu Cute"
Is a medium dusty purple.
Its opaque in 2 coats.
Its darker and less bright in person, but very unique and beautiful at that.

I actually bought 3 nail polishes, but the middle blue called "Main Attraction" is just a polish I needed a replacement for. Its a dusty- grey blue that's just perfect and milky looking. I love it.
